About Gregory Abbou

After many successful years as a Short Films and Documentaries writer/director, Gregory Abbou decided to take a complete career turn to follow his passion for fashion. His ability to sense trends seasons ahead led him to work as a fashion marketing director in Paris for several well-known brands.

In 2001,Gregory moved to Los Angeles and started working for Denim Tycoon, Paul Guez. Together they produced, manufactured and distributed numerous brands, among them Blue Concept and Blue Holdings Group (Yanuk, Antik denim, Taverniti So jeans, as well as Rick Owens and Henri Duarte Denim lines).

After successfully managing the overseas distribution of Yanuk (which is now his now run by Abbou’s wife), Gregory became Brand President of Taverniti So Jeans. In less than three years, Gregory took the label worldwide and built Taverniti into a $20 million per year business.

In January 2008, Gregory Abbou left the Blue Holdings Group to start his own label Degaine (French slang for someone with style).

His vision was simple, to create a label synonymous with style, character and comfort.

The goal is not to follow fashion or to “over design” but to surf the modern trends by creating distinctive pieces that endure.  Using unique details, premium fabrics and treatments, each garment has to be comfortable and soft to the touch, but most of all it has to let your personality breathe.  For Confident People Only.
